In the Kitchen: Pies in the Sky!

It's just in time for the holidays so let's get baking together and make a few kinds of pies. Come join me in the kitchen as we make homemade pie crusts and pies from scratch! You'll learn how to make pie crust dough which can be used for traditional pies or even hand pies. I'll have ingredients for us to make fruit pies, cream pies and traditional holiday pies too. WHAT - In the Kitchen: Homemade Pies WHEN - Sunday, November 8, 2009 TIME - 1:00pm - 4:00pm WHAT TO EXPECT - a day in the kitchen preparing homemade pie. You're welcome to get hands on or to watch and learn... and of course, enjoy the dishes we made and take them home too! WHAT TO BRING - an appetite to learn, your apron, a rolling pin, a pie pan (disposable is fine too) & bag or container to take your pies home. WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED - ingredients for the pies we will make and the prepared recipes to try PIE MENU - - Classic Apple - Pumpkin - Chocolate Cream - Pecan PARKING - A parking garage is connected to our building and there is metered parking on Sub-Wacker. ADDRESS - 400 East South Water St (located in Lakeshore East downtown) CONTACT # - email for contact number Some things to note: Try not to back out last minute. Of course, life gets in the way sometimes, but please make every effort to attend an event that both the organizers and attendees worked to put together. Your RSVP will be used for me to plan accordingly. Be on time. It's an awkward feeling to have planned an event (or attend an event) and be sitting around waiting to start. Please do your best to arrive on time and you're welcome to arrive 30 minutes in advance. Below are the specific directions and parking details for the venue. If you have any questions, run late or get lost, please call me on my cell. We are located at 400 East South Water St, Chicago IL 60601. Here is the easiest way to provide directions to our place... (it looks like daunting directions but trust me, it's a lot easier getting to us than it looks like written down!) BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: - We're accessible from the Randolph/Wabash L Stop, State/Lake L Stop and any of the bus routes that are near Michigan Ave & Randolph. - Walk East on Randolph and continue on until you hit Field Blvd (which is past Columbus). - Turn left at the stop sign (Field Blvd) into the Lakeshore East community. - You'll see a large park in the middle of the community and you can walk through the middle of it. - Head towards the building where you see the Fifth Third Bank. Next to the bank is Cafe Rom... and next to the cafe is our building lobby entrance. If you see a door with an IGo sticker on it, you've gone too far. Register with our reception desk and they'll send you up to our apt - Joelen Tan. BY CAR: - Get to Michigan Ave & Randolph. - Head east on Randolph from this intersection. - Stay to the right and stay on UPPER Randolph - don't go down into LOWER Randolph otherwise it will be a maze for you to find us! - While on UPPER Randolph, you'll hit a stop light at Randolph & Columbus. Continue on Randolph until you hit a stop sign at Field Blvd. - Turn left at the stop sign into the Lakeshore East community. - The road will turn into a one-way loop that circles the park. Follow the loop around until you get to a stop sign (you'll see a Fifth Third Bank on the corner). - Turn right at this stop sign.... If you want to park in the garage, make another immediate right into the parking garage - don't go into the parking garage across the street. Grab a ticket and park your car anywhere you find a spot. Once you park your car, head to the middle of the parking floor towards the elevators and take it to Level 1 Lobby. Head out the door with the "I-Go" sticker and turn right towards our building lobby. If you walk past Cafe Rom, you've gone too far. If you want to park at a meter, continue past the parking garage and turn left onto Sub Wacker and park at any metered spot. Head towards the building where you saw the Fifth Third Bank.
