Description
Dean Milano wrote the book on Chicago music.

Really! He did! The Chicago Music Scene: 1960s and 1970s They're warming up the presses and now it's time for a book signing and a release party.

Dean doesn't want to have just any book signing. Nope - not for his book. He wants to have a party, so he invited all the people IN his book to participate. Much to Dean's delight, nearly all of them said yes.

So now we're having two events! Yes, you heard me – TWO
The first event is the Chicago Music Scene Book Release & Pop Festival Preview Party. Join Dean and many of the artists featured in the book. Entertainment will be legendary in more ways than one and will include the finals from the First Ever Gloria-off Battle-of-the-Bands. You'll get a preview of what's to come at Chicago Pop Festival as selected artists perform and the party culminates in the Chicago Pop Festival All-Star Jam.

The full festival including ALL of the artists will take place in the spring. The proceeds from both events will benefit our two charities , dedicated to bringing music programs to to communities and schools who would not otherwise have them.

The Chicago Music Scene Book Launch & Chicago Pop Festival Preview Party will take place at Chicago's historic Abbey Pub. Founded in 1973, the Abbey Pub continues to feature and support music of all genres and has been home base to many Chicago musicians. With such a great history, what better place to have our party? Join us for some great food, lots of music and even more fun.

A landmark book calls for a landmark book LAUNCH. The Book Launch party will bring Dean's book to life by featuring the live finals of The World's First Ever Gloria-off and several acts from the upcoming Chicago Pop Festival.
• Remember walking around school getting friends to sign their yearbook photos? You can do that at the party too! Meet, greet and get your book signed by Dean Milano and many of the musicians featured in the book.

• Get a taste of the entertainment to come at Chicago Pop Festival 2010
Audience reaction counts in any battle of the bands, so come cheer for your favorite finalist from the winners of the online portion of the competition.
• Meet our charities and learn what important work they are doing in schools and communities in Chicago and elsewhere.

More about Abbey Pub
Abbey Pub
The one thing the Abbey definitely has is character and even if you don't write it on the bathroom wall make sure you are able to say "I Was There!"

Most of The Abbey's "character" is due to its owners. The Irish couple that opened The Abbey Pub in 1974 are still a major part of its venue, pub and restaurant.

The Abbey is a great venue for a wide variety of music. First of all let us list the important info: Wilco, Tea Leaf Green, John Popper, Minus Five, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Nickel Creek, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Dan Hicks, Amy Ray, Robert Pollard, Lyric Born have played The Abbey...but the list goes on and on.

..The Abbey has been around since polyester leisure suits, parachute pants, flannel shirts and doc martens...but it has always remained consistent with amazing music. And The Abbey plans to be around to see those styles come back around. So whether you're a front row dancer, bar hugger or people watcher there is a place for all music lovers at The Abbey.

And along with great music comes great food! Picture yourself in a room full of soccer fans, a thick stout beer in one hand, high-fiving with the other and in front of you sits The Abbey's famous Shepard's Pie. Ummmmm, Perfection!

Okay, think we've covered it all. Just come on by! On the corner of Elston & Grace.
