Whether you have an apartment in the shade or a sun-drenched property, eating nutritionally sound food is within your means. Chicago is brimming with options and resources by way of garden centers, farmer's markets, urban farms, and restaurants full of nutritious local options. Your instructor will expose you to a variety of niche and valuable resources that this green city has to offer. The local food system is dynamic, therefore to provide the best tour specific destinations will be determined at the onset of the "09 growing season". The ideal tour will consist of uniquely local production and distribution opportunities. We will visit a market (farmer's or fixed), a producer (farm or facility) and a personal garden (community or residential). Bring plenty of shopping bags, a list of key items from your plan and bring friends (space permitting). Lunch will be included. This course is part of the ongoing Localvore: The Art of Eating Locally sessions.
