Designed for anyone seeking employment as a nurse assistant in a hospital or nursing home, this course provides instruction in the classroom, lab and nursing home. Students will complete a minimum of 120 hours in class and in clinical setting. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the Virginia Board of Nursing examination for certification as a nurse?s aide. This course requires participation 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on at least five Saturdays in addition to the regular class nights. A TB test and a criminal background check will be done before attending clinical (fees included). CPR certification is needed for this class. See Page 6 for class information. This class requires students to be able to bend, pull, stoop and walk without problems. Students may also have to handle bodily fluids and substances. Uniform and supplies are required for this class. Books and blood pressure and stethoscope kit are included. Please note: You may be accepted into the class before completion of your background check. If the completed inquiry establishes information that in the opinion of Chesterfield County Public Schools, Virginia State Board of Nursing or the clinical setting makes you unqualified to attend clinical instruction, you may be dismissed from class. High school diploma or equivalency required.
