A family-friendly alternative for some night-time Halloween fun, the Hoot and Howl at Rockwood Nature Center is always a hit! Families with children of all ages come out for a not-so-scary good time and enjoy free childrens games, crafts and live music around a campfire. In addition to free activities, you can buy a ticket and hop on the tractor driven hay wagon ride for a cruise through Rockwood Park accompanied by live banjo music, or take a spooky guided walk on the trails through the woods to discover the "creatures" that call the park home and meet the Troll of Rockwood, who is only seen this one night every year! Then step into the creepy laboratory of a mad scientist and get up close and personal encounters with some of the creepiest critters on the Earth! Hike and creeture show are creepy but not scary, please use parental discretion with very young children. Tickets for hay ride, spooky hike and creature science show are $2 each, or buy a combo ticket to all three for only $5! Concession stand with chili, hot dogs, hot cocoa, snacks, drinks and s'more kits for roasting over the fire too. Rain or shine, children's costumes welcome!
