Description
Kappo Nara Seafood & Sushi (757) 249-5395 www.kapponara.com 550 Oyster Point Rd, #A, Newport News, VA 23602 Per the restaurant: Kappo Nara is Tidewater's first and only authentic Japanese owned and operated restaurant. We have been in business well over 15 years and employ a staff of experienced and friendly professionals. Kappo Nara has been rated by numerous magazines and local dining articles as one of Virginia's finest Japanese restaurants. All of our dishes are prepared fresh daily by our professionally trained staff, many with over 10 years of experience working in our restaurant. We carry a wide variety of fresh fish, meats, vegetables and poultry, all of which are shipped in daily from locations around the world. * Specialties: Japanese, Zaru Soba, Tempura Soba, Takeout, Sushi Regular, Sushi, Sunomono, Sukiyaki, Special Dinner, Shoga Yaki, Sashimi, Reservation, Noodle Dinner, Lunch, Katsu Curry, Imo Ten, Fried Rice, Flounder What others are saying: 1.I love eating there with my fiance! We love their low-key atmosphere, food, and price. They are hospitable there, and the sushi is great! 2. Abolutely BEST Japanese Restuarant in Newport News: This is a traditional Japanese restaurant. Service is superb as is the food. The sushi chef Nagano San is informative and pleasant. The servers are marvelous - even showed our daughter to the restroom and stood outside the door and returned her to our table as to not interupt our meal. You won't find that kind of service anywhere else. Only Japanese restuarant in Hampton Roads owned and run by Japanese. Very traditional and delicious. I have eaten Japanese food too many times to count and my husband spent a lot of time in Japan while in the Navy and this is our absolute favorite place to eat - even our 9 year old daughter thinks so!!! They also have take out and party platters too and they're very reasonable! Must go experience, taste and enjoy this restuarant. For the less experienced pallette (those of you who don't think you could stomach eating "bait") they also have Japanese style beef, pork and chicken. Wide range of prices on the menu from very inexpensive to highly priced. My husband, who is a sushi connoisseur, has commented to me that the only comparable sushi and sashimi he had was when he was stationed in Japan. By the way - try the white tuna (shiro maguro) it's a buttery, tender and melts in your mouth! Much better raw than when it's cooked! 3.Sushi's good: The sushi was good the other food however was lacking big time. We ordered yaki soba (lo mein) and it tasted like the poured a bottle of bullseye bbq sauce on it. and the chicken yakitori did not have an bbq flavor to it. So it was very good for sushi and I would go back again and try again to find someother foods . Call me anytime at home at 638-9650 or cell 510-1708 if you need directions to the dinner, have suggestions or comments, or want to RSVP at the last minute and I will make sure I make room for you at the ?dinner table?. As always, if you have comments about this restaurant you want to share with me, please do and email me your comments.
