Chesapeake for the Homeless

Barack Obama has asked that we celebrate his inauguration by holding a community service event. We will be preparing care packages to give to the homeless who need our help in the cold months ahead. We will be asking the areas youth to help with this event to give them a sense of importance and compassion towards their fellow man and hopefully make a difference in their lives, also. We will also be having fun and educational activities for the children that attend the event. The care kits will be distributed to the homeless during the National Homeless Count held later in the month. They need items such as new or clean gently used hats, scarves, gloves, sweaters, socks, thermal underwear, and coats in both children and adult sizes. Some of them are families that have to sleep outside in the cold if they can't earn enough money to stay in a hotel or find a shelter for the night. Healthy snack bars would also be appreciated.
