MAKE YOURSELF MORE MARKETABLE IN TODAY'S ECONOMY!!

See BostonEventsList.com for this weeks schedule and details.

Beginning in January 2010, the Technical Skill Share group will meet in the Library's McCarthy Meeting Room every Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The group is led by volunteers who research and lead a project. The goals of the group are to help high tech professionals in job transition share their skills and impart knowledge to others. This helps participants and members to be better prepared for technical interviews.

There are various technology subgroups. These help people migrate from one technology area to another; frequently there are people attending multiple subgroup events. We have some young members who are recent college graduates who have never gone through the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) or other product development process so they are learning the techniques that are used in different companies for SW or HW release with a resume project we are currently working on.

The Technical Skill Share group has been meeting since the Spring of 2009. The technology training covered by the group includes: C/C++, VBA, Java, C#, DSP, Perl, Computer networking - TCP/IP, MS Access, OOD, UML, DSP, Real Time Operating Systems, Cloud computing, Google App Engine, Amazon S3, Salesforce, Six Sigma, Source control, subversion etc. Technical presentations are led by participants, as well as external speakers, who are experts in their area.

Each week, the first session (1:30-3:30 p.m.) includes an open discussion about the product development effort and reports on the progress each week. The second session (4:00-6:00 p.m.) is the technical presentation by a speaker.

As an added benefit the sessions provide networking between high technology professionals.

For more information about the group, please contact: skillsshareATyahooDOTcom. The group activities are free and open to the public.
