The Charlotte Salsa Maniacs Meetup

Fellow Salsa Maniacs, We did some serious partying at Cosmos last week. All that was missing was you. Starting this week, Thursday, October 16th we are returning to Cosmos on a regular basis. This will be one of our weekly pit stops for the Charlotte Salsa Maniacs Caravan. We don't just go to the party: we bring the party. Here is the scene. We will arrive around 9:30, to meet chit chat and smile a while; drink a taste and just plain old get acquainted for some and warmed up for others. We gather at our usual place, close to the dance floor, yet near all the appropriate watering stations. Then it happens. Tables are moved, chairs are rearranged, and what was a quaint restuarant changes into a full blown let's get this party started headquarters. Then you hear it. The Salsa beat, undeniable and pulsating. At this juncture, members of the Caravan, some even venturing outside the group, find themselves moving to the dance floor. Pretty ladies being led by the hand to the dance floor; under the watchful and envious eyes of the guys who think: "that's what I'm talkin bout! Ya hear me?" I hear ya. All the women at Cosmos are pretty, especially 'round midnight (smile). And before you know it, an area once populated by cheerful diners, is now a pulsating (I like that word) mass of dancers who are not only not feeling no pain, but are feeling the joy of ages. The party is on, and it is just beginning. By 11:30, anybody who is coming is here. By midnight, Salsa gives way to Merengue, which gives way to Bachata, and by 12:30 p.m. if you don't speak Reggaeton, then you are speechless in Cosmos. Salsa purists are waiting for Salsa to return, and by 1:00 am., they get their wish, although only briefly. It's more of you know what, then salsa is back, and you can see saleros dancing on One and on Two. By this point in the evening, if you aren't having any fun yet then you ain't goin' to have any. Ya dig. Hold it. Stop the music. I was supposed to be tellin' ya'll 'bout the meetup. Well we are going to Meet Up alright. And we are going to meet up at Cosmos. Now it may take two to Tango, but it takes a lot more to party. So, come on. If you are a real Salsa Maniac, you will find a way. I know you got to work tomorrow. But, like I used to tell my college girl friend when first we met: "don't let tomorrow spoil tonight." I am not promoting irrational behaviour, but I am saying, party as long as you reasonably can, then go home and sleep like a baby, and wake up ready to work. If there is a water cooler at your job, when you stand there with your co-workers, you will have a tale to tell. Nuff said. let's get this party started. Muhammad
