Stone Mountain Day Hike

Moderately Strenuous Hike by James This day hike is moderately strenuous with a distance of approximately 8.5 miles over uneven terrain. The park is located 105 miles north of Charlotte (2 hours driving time) and is home to a variety of scenery - the most notable being a 600 foot tall mountain of granite that provides spectacular views of the wooded areas below. We'll meet in the Charlotte area (details provided only to those who RSVP) at 7:00AM on Saturday, 11/21 and arrange carpools then. After a brief stop along the way for breakfast - we'll head over to the trailhead and eventually have lunch (both meals are on your own) atop beautiful Stone Mountain. Please note this is a "fair-weather" hike due to the slippery condition of the granite. Therefore, any rain forecast greater than 30% will most likely cancel the hike.
