This presentation explores the depiction of contemporary African-American male images from artists of different nationalities, races, genders and sexual preferences. Contemporary works drawn from The Mint Museum's permanent collection along with loans from established collections/artists in Charlotte and the surrounding area comprise the exhibition. The presentation prompts thoughts of socio-economic impact as well as societal stereotyping. The exhibition will focus on the black male image from an African-American view and explore how other races and nationalities perceive the contemporary black male.
