Paddle Sparkleberry

Leader: MikeD; Location: Sparkleberry Swamp (upper Lake Marion) SE of Columbia; Rating: Moderately Fast Appeal: Look at these pictures; A very large beautiful cathedral like area of a submerged forest of tall trees to paddle in. Requirements: Experienced paddlers only. Kayaks only, 14 foot minimum; (Why? let's get some faster boaters to become familiar with this place then later lead trips for slower boats. THIS WILL BE RELAXED LATER IF I GET NO REPLIES AS IS.) PFDs will be required at all times. (Why? (1) Allligators (2) Submerged hazards (3) I can explain the rest later if needed.) Hazards and difficulties: alligators have been seen (or is that an "appeal"), submerged stumps; there are NO real trails and it all looks the same; A very large area to get confused in; no convenient potty stops (its almost ALL water) Game plan: Meet about 10 at the boat launch (Details will be sent to participants); Put in about 10:30; paddle 4-5 hours; Take out about 4PM.
