November Meeting - Read Faster, Understand More! Dr. Bruce Stewart

As active business people we are presented with a massive pile of reading to do every day. Emails, technical articles, daily news ÂÂ- it can be so overwhelming that many of us skip it altogether. Our email inboxes fill up, magazines sit unread, newspapers become nothing but fodder for the recycle bin. When do find the time, often we lose concentration and donÂÂ't remember or understand what weÂÂ've read. Our November JCBC speaker will be Dr. Bruce Stewart, owner of ExecuRead. He will give us valuable perspective on our reading problems and go over some simple techniques to organize what we read and improve our comprehension. Dr. Stewart explains how he got started. ÂÂ"As an Assistant District Attorney I was behind on my case-load and losing cases hand over fist because I couldn't keep up with all the new case-law. My graduate school grades were tanking, my professional life was on the ropes and my personal life not much better. All because I couldnÂÂ't read & comprehend fast enough.ÂÂ" He says he took a speed reading course and his life changed forever. He started winning every case and his university grades improved dramatically. He was so excited about what speed reading had done, he bought the company three years later, redesigned and enhanced the training courses to make them even more effective, and made it his life's mission to improve the reading skills, and the lives, of as many people as he could. Since then heÂÂ's trained statesmen, executives, professionals, managers and students, across four continents, to read faster, with better comprehension and retention, and has worked with organizations like the Pentagon, Special Operations Command, the World Bank, Credit Suisse, Microsoft and Bank of America. The JCBC was organized in 2004 as a way to bring Jewish business and professional leaders together for advice and mutual support. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month with a guest speaker discussing a topic of interest to our business community. Meetings are held at 6:30pm in Luski Hall, which is room 207 of the Bernstein Building in Shalom Park. Meeting Schedule: 6:30 to 7:00 pm - snacks and networking 7:00 to 7:15 pm - roundtable introductions of members and guests 7:15 to 8:00 pm - guest speaker and questions and answers.
