Done to live music, this welcoming, playful, easy to learn, non-competitive dance form requires NO partner or experience. A crash course lesson about 30 minutes before the dance has most folks set to go when the dancing starts.
Contra dance provides the foundations of social dancing (ballroom, Salsa, etc.) without the learning curve. Show up, grab a partner and join in when the music starts. All dance venues substance free.
Ability to laugh at oneself useful. Soft soled clean shoes to protect the venues suspended wood floors required. Dancers range from early teens to long past retirement. Families with young children please see the little ones are supervised at all times.
