Event details: Owl Prowl
Description
Saturday, February 7, 2009, 7:30 – 9:30pm
February may just be the best month for owling. These creatures are the real early birds - busy calling, setting up territories, and building nests when the rest of us are still snuggled in front of the fireplace reading the seed catalogs. Start out with a talk by Kimball naturalist Bob Kenney, who will introduce the owls most likely to be encountered and then get a close-up look at one of Audubon's captive owls. Afterward, head out along the refuge trails, looking and listening for these majestic birds. Be sure to dress for a bitter February night, and bring a flashlight. We will cancel the program if the driving looks unsafe, or if the trails are not clear enough for walking in the dark. owls.
