We meet at North Towne Grill, a great little Greek restaurant across from Northwoods Mall (off Rivers onto Eagle Landing Blvd). They provide us a private meeting space in the back and that setup encourages face-to-face conversations. Our very popular Show-and-Tell uses a laptop, video projector and state-of-the-art screen so members bring about 10-15 of their special shots burned to a CD/Flash card/thumb drive/memory stick or .... simply sit back and enjoy seeing what others have been doing. Members wanted an optional monthly THEME so we all could shoot our version of a common topic. The February 2010 theme is "ACTION" (Could be frozen sharp as a tack, blurred while panning, shallow depth of field...you decide.) Remember, the theme is just an option. Bring your favorites. As a new feature we now post all the Show & Tell shots online on our site for others to see. Click on PHOTOS and then add captions to your pictures. Feel free to make comments to share your reactions. Members have talked about shooting RAW, using Photoshop, WIMP, stitching a panorama (heard about vertical stitch?) and other tools to enhance photos.... NOT as a lecture but as a sharing/learning experience in layman's terms. Check the Message Board for follow-up details. It's updated often. Digital cameras get more powerful and smaller, yet the price keeps dropping!? Many cell Phones also make calls. Find out what to look for when you shop (for phones or cameras). What computer and printer should be your own personal darkroom/film processor? Have you looked at the "memory" on memory cards lately? 2-4-8 Gig? Yikes, now there are terabytes. The 2nd Wednesday of the month is turning out to be an informative - and fun - monthly social event. RSVP to make sure enough seats are set up. Thank you. P.S. ALWAYS bring your camera(s). Someone might say "Hey, I have THAT same one..how do you...?" Chuck
