Description:
An introduction to high-performance computing, available research computing hardware facilities at UNC, parallel programming tools and utilities, as well as software packages' availability and access will be presented in this workshop. You will learn what hardware and software facilities are available on campus, how to subscribe to campus research computing services, how to compile your serial and parallel codes on various machines, serial and parallel computing basics, how to submit jobs via the load share facility (LSF), and file management techniques. Hands-on exercises will be provided.
Prerequisites:
* Familiarity with UNIX/Linux-based operating systems
* An account on Emerald LINUX Cluster, emerald.isis.unc.edu
