French Wine Tasting for Nouveau Beaujolais Day

Nouveau Beaujolais Day is a great excuse for us all to gather together and taste some fantastic French Wines... and as a twist, lets do it at a new Italian restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale... TUTTO opened its doors just 2 months ago at the base of the Marshall Way Bridge on Stetson Drive. With a spectacular menu of traditional Italian dishes, Tutto has graciously offered to bring in some French wines specifically for our event to accompany their fine wine list. Our tasting event... Starting at 5:30pm and going until 8pm, we will have the opportunity to try 5 fantastic French wines for only a $15 tasting fee. Of course one of those wines will be the 2009 Beaujolais that they got ahold of for our event. And another of those wines will be tasted blind so that you have to guess the grape varietal. Take a moment to review your French wines, for if you guess it correctly, Tutto is offering up a $25 gift certificate for a return visit! At around 7:30 pm we will reveal our blind wine and identify our winners. Did I mention that the food is incredible??? Tutto has happy hour pricing until 7pm... They have a wonderful happy hour menu that includes several wood fired pizzas for $6, along with $2 domestic beers and $5 glasses of house wine. A brief history of Beaujolais day follows... Cheers! At one past midnight on the third Thursday of each November, from little villages and towns, over a million cases of Beaujolais Nouveau begin their journey through a sleeping France to Paris for immediate shipment to all parts of the world. Banners proclaim the good news: Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! "The New Beaujolais has arrived!" The Beaujolais is a tasty red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region. French law states that the Beaujolais Nouveau cannot be released any earlier than the third Thursday of November, so every year on this day producers embark on a mad race to get the first bottles on the shelves. The celebrations began as a local phenomenon in the bars and cafés of Beaujolais and Lyon, where pitchers were filled from the growers'barrels, but nowadays it's celebrated around the world.
