Walking Event:

Walk is on city sidewalks and some graveled streets. Both walk and B award commemorate Wright Morris, a native son and internationally recognized writer and photographer. 2010 is the Centenary of Morris' birth. One of his books will be the One State - One Book selection in Nebraska for 2010 to honor him. The trail passes Morris' boyhood home and other sites of which he wrote. Enjoy this peaceful town which inspired Morris' prose. Trail includes a trip past the newly renovated Merrick County Courthouse where you will see the Veterans Memorial. The trail also passes the Merrick County Historical Society Museum, the Central City Volunteer Fire House, and the historic Christ Episcopal Church. You will cross the Union Pacific main line twice during your journey. It is the world s most traveled rail line.
