Treasures from the National Collection at Grant Wood Studio and Visitors Center
Cedar Rapids Museum of Art
The CRMA is excited to provide a second floor gallery space for the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library (NCSML) for a special exhibition from their permanent collection. The exhibition, Treasures from the National Collection, will open at the CRMA on June 20.
This exhibit will feature examples of fine, folk, and decorative art. One piece on display will be “Paul and Andy” by Paul Warhola. It was damaged in the June flood, but has been repaired by experts at the Chicago Conservation Center. Paul Warhola is the older brother of Andy Warhol. Textiles embellished with beads and embroidery will also be displayed, including several full kroj. Anyone who has seen our folk costumes can attest to their status as works of art. The gallery will also contain some of our fine Royal Dux porcelain pieces, as well as glass and crystal from well known makers such as Moser, Rindskopf and Teplice.
Treasures from the National Collection is an ongoing exhibition. For more information about the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, please visit www.ncsml.org.
