Tuesday, November 17, 2009. 8:30 p.m. The Metalmarks are a tropical subfamily of small butterflies, many having reflective scales on the wings that look like gold or silver glitter. The Swamp Metalmark is the only member in Wisconsin. It was among the first insects added to Wisconsin's Endangered and Threatened Species List. Susan Borkin will review the natural history of this butterfly, its status, and efforts to halt and reverse its decline, including the critical role Riveredge is playing in conservation of the Swamp Metalmark.
