UPDATE! CARRIZO CANYON IS INACCESSIBLE THIS TIME OF YEAR SO WE ARE GOING AN ADDITIONAL 16 MILES UP 74 TO ANOTHER TRAIL. SORRY!!!!!! This is an easy/moderate hike from what I hear and is 4 hours with a 900 ft elevation gain. I won't be hiking the whole thing, because I can't spend that much time. An hour in, an hour out for me. Call me if you are delayed so I can wait for you! 760-333-2134. Otherwise, we leave on time. Take Hwy 111 to Hwy 74 (Palm Desert). Go south about 16 miles until you pass the old Sugarloaf Cafe, where you will take the first paved road to the left. A sign on Hwy 74 indicates the Cactus Spring Trailhead. Go .25 miles then turn left onto the wide dirt road. Park in the flat area on the north side. From Hemet, the trailhead is 8 miles east of the junction of Hwy 371 and Hwy 74. For fun non-stressful hike. There is no pressure to keep up or to slow down. Everyone goes at their own pace. Hopefully you will meet some hiking buddies, but if not at least you will get to explore the valley. It may not be what we expect, it might exceed our expectations. If you want me to research this hike you are out of luck. This is an adventure for me too. I will wrap up this hike by 9:30am at the latest. I may not finish the trail, but you can stay and do your own thing if you choose to. All hikes are weather permitting and my cell # is 760-333-2134, call anytime.
