Coffee and Contacts Cary features Rev. Phran: Wedding Traditions: Why We Do What We Do Bio for Rev. Phran Phran Gacher was born and grew up in Stamford CT, the very same town that her father was born and lived in until his retirement. Her first profession was as a hair designer. After many years in the hair business she realized that clients often came to her for counseling as well as coiffeurs. Helping people feel good on the inside became as important to her as helping them look good on the outside. The turning point came one day when a receptionist asked Phran to perform her wedding. Saying, ÃÂ"I canÃÂ'tÃÂ" is not in PhranÃÂ's vocabulary so she found a way and became ordained, over a weekend, in the Order of Melchizedek. Not much time passed when the desire to know more about being a minister blossomed and Phran enrolled in the Seminary of Spiritual Peacemakers. Two years later, Phran earned her Master of Divinity degree and was ordained in Assisi, Italy on a bright and sunny Sunday morning. That very afternoon she took part in a 100 mile walk to Rome to see the Pope. The Peace Walk replicated the walk undertaken by St. Francis of Assisi many centuries before which started the Renaissance Period. She did see the Pope but isnÃÂ't sure if the Pope saw her. In June of 2006 Phran took the leap, gave up her life long profession, her house, her attachments, completed all of her projects and relocated to Garner NC to pursue her new vocation as a Wedding Minister. As a Peace Minister, Phran is not concerned about where you come from or what your beliefs are. We all have our own version of life and live the life we choose. What ever your faith or belief system encompasses she will create and perform a ceremony to express your personal intentions, requests, and desires. Her latest career move has been to appropriate a room in her house in which is created a Home Chapel where she performs small weddings in an intimate and loving setting.
