WORLD MARCH FOR PEACE AND NON-VIOLENCE
The World March for Peace and Non-Violence is already underway, having started in New Zealand on 2 October 2009 - the anniversary of Gandhi’s birth, declared the “International Day of Non-Violence” by the United Nations. It will conclude in the Andes Mountains (Punta de Vacas, Aconcagua, Argentina) on 2 January 2010. The World March is being endorsed by respected international personalities, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama, Noam Chomsky, Yoko Ono, Bryan Adams, Penelope Cruz, Philip Glass and David Suzuki amongst others.

The World March will last 90 days, three long months of travel. It will pass through all climates and seasons, from the hot summer of the tropics and the deserts, to the winter of Siberia.

CAPE TOWN LEG OF THE PEACE MARCH
In Cape Town we plan to do something special (and a little different) in keeping with our local heritage – we will walk in a peaceful and non-violent manner in the Table Mountain Nature Reserve. The Cape Town Peace March will be from Kloof Nek parking lot along the Jeep Track to Deer Park and back again. In Deer Park, marchers are invited to share a picnic lunch, which you bring along. A public peace forum will be held in Deer Park, before marchers return along the same route.

The walk will be led by Iain Macdonald of the Awakening Intuition Network, who arranges regular Intuition Nature Walks (www.intuitionwalks.com) around the Table Mountain and surrounding areas. Karen Barensche of the South African Peace Alliance (www.sapeacealliance.org.za) will lead the public peace forum.
