Description
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of the book, and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Darwin himself, Canterbury Library is proud to participate further in the debate. You are invited to a talked entitled ‘An Evolving Creation’ by the Reverend Doctor John Polkinghorne.
Polkinghorne was Vicar of Blean during the 1980s, after he was ordained in 1982, and as a Professor of Mathematical Physics also taught physics at the University of Kent in Canterbury. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1974. He was knighted in 1997 and he was the inaugural president the International Society for Science and Religion, which was founded in 2002, the year he was awarded the Templeton prize. Polkinghorne was written over 30 books on science, religion and the debate between them.

Join him at Canterbury Library for a 45 minute talk about how the debate between those who believe in the literal creation of the Christian Bible and scientists behind evolution has progressed since Darwin’s day. There will be a 30 minute questions session after the talk.
