Recommended by my Franco-phile sister, our first holiday season film is guaranteed to delight. "The Dinner Game" by Francis Veber is a French film with an irresistible premise: Each week, Pierre and his friends organize what is called as "un dîner de cons". Everyone brings an idiot -- the dumbest guy he could find -- as a guest. Clocking in at only 81 minutes, this comedy will get you home early enough to write your letter to Santa and lighten you up for the stressful holidays (with some decent belly laughs). Francis Veber is a prolific writer/director of French comedies. Known best for his comedy "La Cage Aux Folles" Veber also directed several other farces including "The Valet".
