Tom Phillips and the Men of Constant Sorrow are six members strong; Acoustic guitar/lead vocals, Pedal Steel, Bass, Drums, Mandolin and Lead electric guitar. At the core of the band is Tom Phillips. With the skill of an artisan and the soul of a true street poet, he creates songs which range from hard core honky tonk to heart wrenching ballads. Tom Phillips and the Men of Constant Sorrow wowed an unsuspecting crowd of thousands during their concert at the 2001 Calgary Folk Festival. Tom and the boys were headliners at the 25th anniversary Frostbite Festival in Whitehorse, YK February 21-23/03 and were main stage performers at the 2003 Canmore Folk Music Festival Aug.2-4/03. Tom Phillips and the Men of Constant Sorrow were also the headliners at: the 1999 Calgary Women of Distinction Awards (Jack Singer Concert Hall), The legendary “Broken Spoke”, July/00 (Continental Airlines event, Austin, TX), Songwriter’s circle Big Valley Jamboree, August/01 (Big Valley, AB), Canadian Country Music Week, Sept./01 (Calgary, AB), Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Aug./02 (Edmonton, AB), Juno fest/03 (Edmonton, AB), Dauphin’s Countryfest July 1-4/04 and were second billing with Stompin’ Tom at Cowboy’s 2006 Stampede tent and opened the 2006/7 Beneath The Arch Concert Series season in Turner Valley, AB. They also play regularly at Calgary’s 2003 - 2010 top live music venue for Country and Folk, The Ironwood Stage and Grill.
