More about BEAT NIQ Jazz & Social Club
BEAT NIQ Jazz & Social Club
Opened in March 1997, BEAT NIQ Jazz & Social Club has from the start been driven by the musicians and exists for the musicians. The club has been a vision inspired by a love for jazz and the incredible talent base of local musicians... a club that is energized by improvisation; a potential stepping stone for great talent. It is our goal to support and encourage the jazz community to thrive in Calgary, and offer our patrons the total jazz experience.

It all started with jazz in Bistro Piq Niq (upstairs from the club) in 1995, where the music added soul to the dining experience. Soon the cafe became a thriving haunt for jazz lovers, and growth was inevitable. The spring of 1997 saw a migration to the underground New York style space and further expansion in 1998 in order to participate in the summer Jazz City Festival. The club has been described as a sexy, New York club with great atmosphere, great service, and incredible soul

We send utmost appreciation and acknowledgement to the many musicians who have helped in the development of the club, and in sharing and encouraging our vision!
