Description
More than any other continent, Asia has from time immemorial exercised a strange fascination over Europe; it goes without saying that this was marked by elevations of spirituality and wisdom, but also by more prosaic treasures in the form of spices, perfumes, teas and precious stones. Introduced by the Romans and abundantly exploited by Marco Polo, the “Silk Route” has long symbolised the extraordinary commercial and political network that exists between the East and the West. These exchanges also opened the way for most of the main religious and philosophical trends, inexhaustible sources of inspiration for culture and the arts. An exhibition fringe event of the 2010 ASEM (Asia- Europe Meeting) summit.
