Steven Dobbin's latest series, Reclamation is in response to the increasing costs of materials typically used to create artworks. This series is made from recycled cans reclaimed from local areas. Reclamation is Steven Dobbin's 5th solo exhibition with Causey Contemporary. Please join us for an artist's reception on Friday, November 13th from 6 - 9 PM. This event will be a part of the Williamsburg Galleries Association's 2nd Friday event. The exhibition will continue through December 7th. The public is also invited to visit the exhibition during regular gallery hours, Wed - Sat 11 am - 7 pm, Sun 12 - 6 pm, and Mon 9 - 5 pm. For more information please call the gallery at 718.218.8939.
About Steven Dobbin and his work

Steven Dobbin is a sculptor working in lead, copper, and steel with plaster and pigment. He has received his degrees from Indiana University, The University of Southern California, and George Washington University in Fine Arts, Ceramics, and Education. He resides in Western Maryland where he is currently a teacher at Phillips School for Contemporary Education where he has developed an arts program for severely emotionally disturbed children.
His conceptually based creations have appeared in group exhibitions at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville, Maryland, The Bridge Art Fairs in Chicago, New York and London, at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center, the Artist's Gallery / Blue Elephant Studios in Frederick, Maryland, the Artist's Museum in Washington DC, the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Occidental College, and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, at the Pasadena Armory Center for the Arts in California, the Heritage Museum, and the Meyers/ Bloom Gallery in Santa Monica, CA.
His solo exhibition credits include Causey Contemporary (formerly Ch'i), the Artist's Gallery and Blue Elephant Studios in Frederick, MD, Millennium Art Center in Washington DC, Meyers / Bloom Gallery in Santa Monica, CA, the Helen Lindhurst Gallery at USC, Los Angeles, CA, and the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center where his show received the Meredith Springer award for exceptional artists who have contributed to the arts community in Frederick, Maryland.
Steven Dobbin's permanent installation, "Labyrinth of Remembrance" on the grounds of the Phillips School in Laurel, MD, was published in the Baltimore Sun, on WBLA TV, the NBC Afflilate Channel 25 in Maryland, and Tolerance.org, a project of the southern poverty law center. In addition, Steven Dobbin has been published in the Arlington Connection, Washington Post, The Frederick Gazette, Channel 51, and the Los Angeles Times.
Steven Dobbin's sculptures are in collections throughout the United States and the UK.

Causey Contemporary cultivates and represents contemporary artists from their emergence through their maturity. We are dedicated to helping collectors understand and enjoy their artworks within historical, cultural and social contexts. Our mission is to nourish dialogue and relationships between artists, collectors and curators. About the Gallery
Causey Contemporary represents exquisite technically and conceptually challenging art. The gallery exhibits the work of its core group of 13 artists in 11 shows annually, in addition to hosting special exhibitions by other critically recognized artists. Causey Contemporary participates in two or more international art fairs annually and also organizes international touring exhibitions.
Causey Contemporary and its artists have been covered in Artnews, Artforum, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and multiple other art and culture publications. Gallery artists are included in the collections of MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and other institutions throughout the world.
Causey Contemporary was established in 1999 as Ch'i Contemporary Fine Art. Founder and Director Tracy Causey-Jeffery changed the name in September 2009 to commemorate the gallery's expansion and its tenth anniversary.

Ch'i director, Tracy Causey-Jeffery received her masters in art history from the University of London after interning at Sotheby's auction house in New York City.
