Chanya Dad is Swahili for positive sisters. After reading countless articles on how the self esteem of African American girls are the lowest, I felt we needed to show them just how beautiful, intellliigent, gifted and necessary they are. After speaking to several other women who were onboard with this idea..Chanya Dada was born.

 We have found  location for  day of encouragement for girls ages 6 to 14 year old. This day will include skits that will show them circumstances they may find themselves in, conflict resolution and show them the beauty we see inside them. There will be musical performances along with speakers. We will take time to speak with the parents and impart why it is so important for the young ladies to hear words of affirmaton. Food will be served and there will be activities and gift bags for all.

Unfortunately, nothing is cheap. So I turn to you, the community, to help raise capital to ensure the success of this day. I hope to turn it into an annual event. I would love to have 100 girls in attendance. And you can help make that happen.

We are not asking for a set amount, but the size of your shoe is a good starting point. For instance, if you wear a size 8 & 1/2 then $8.50 would be your donation. Of course, if you want to donate more then by all means do so. Your assistance is deeply appreciated.
