LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. – NY used cars have become a hot commodity as the economy continues to linger between recession and recovery. For this reason, not all shoppers are searching for new cars when they decide they want to bring another car to their lineup. As tempting as some prices may seem, Long Island City Auto Group wants to warn shoppers about the dangers as scams are getting more popular.
“There are different places for customers to visit to buy cars such as dealerships and sometimes private sellers,” said Paul Passarelli, General Manager of Garden City Mazda, a Long Island City Auto Group dealership. “The only problem with trying to buy a used car from a private seller, especially over the Internet, is the possibility of being scammed out of hard earned money. We want our shoppers to know that we offer promotions and competitive prices, so you can feel confident when buying from us with no need to go through the unknown seller.”
NY used cars offered at Long Island City Auto Group dealerships come with a sense of security that may not be found with the unknown seller that a shopper may find on Internet websites such as Craigslist. As with any commodity that goes up in price, scammers are paying attention to the best ways to get money for nothing, and Long Island City Auto Group wants to share how to avoid some scams.
The Internet scam being repeated most often includes a seller that offers the same kind of characteristics every time:
• very busy and unable to physically meet
• believable story as to why the price is so incredibly low
• offers security by saying money that is wired by the buyer is held while the vehicle is delivered for inspection
• VIN numbers and photos are direct from reputable websites such as Kelley Blue Book
Long Island City Auto Group has heard the many different problems that shoppers have to deal with as fake sellers trying to sell NY used cars. Long Island City Auto Group wants all customers to know that its three dealerships—Long Island City Hyundai, Garden City Mazda and Long Island City Mitsubishi—carry high quality used vehicles that are offered with real security for shoppers.
With the many options available, Long Island City Auto Group encourages shoppers to visit its dealerships before considering other alternatives. Associates are standing by to help customers narrow down the options for the vehicle they want at the right price.
