Improv Shmimprov, voted Orange County's best improv comedy group by myFoxla.com for 2008, has been performing no holds-barred short-form improv comedy since 2003. Having performed nearly 500 shows in that time primarily at the Maverick Theater in Fullerton as well as the Chance Theater and The Block at Orange, Shmimprov has also been featured in the Los Angeles and Colorado Improv Festivals. Shmimprov presents a fast-paced and energetic competition between two teams of comedians through short form games based on the audience's suggestions. As their name implies, they take very little seriously, particularly the trite predictability of most small improv shows and continually strive to re-invent the improv wheel by constantly creating new and ridiculous games and ways to interact with the audience. Since Shmimprov revitalized the shortform improv comedy scene in 2004, they have given rise to many new fledgling improv groups with whom they regularly hold improv battles and inevitably dominate.
