Come out on a chilly day to paddle Barren River. We'll meet at the take out: Martinsville Ford on Martinsville Ford Road (north side of river). At the suggestion of one of our members (Derrek) we are going to put in farther up the river than origionally planned. We will now be putting-in at Osborne Ford on Osborne Ford Road. This will be a short trip, 5-6 miles. There is plently of parking at Martinsville Ford but limited parting at the put-in (maybe 2 cars). NOTE: We are meeting at 10:00am... (read more)

Barren River - Osborne Ford to Martinsville Ford at Postal code 42101, US

Come out on a chilly day to paddle Barren River. We'll meet at the take out: Martinsville Ford on Martinsville Ford Road (north side of river). At the suggestion of one of our members (Derrek) we are going to put in farther up the river than origionally planned. We will now be putting-in at Osborne Ford on Osborne Ford Road. This will be a short trip, 5-6 miles. There is plently of parking at Martinsville Ford but limited parting at the put-in (maybe 2 cars). NOTE: We are meeting at 10:00am. Due to the cold weather - be sure to bring extra clothes on the trip. IF you dump over, we don't want anyone to get hypothermia. And, please, bring a life jacket. Winter paddles are not recommended for first time paddlers or children :(
