Colorado has been the backdrop for over 500 movies since 1898. Whether it is the early silent films, cowboy Westerns, ski movies or Stan Brackhage's famous works of avant-garde art cinema, Hollywood has come to Colorado.
The exhibit showcases Colorado's film history through original posters and footage from more than 100 years of moviemaking in places like Golden, Morrison and of course, Boulder. Museum visitors will enjoy seeing a rock-cam used to film The Cove, the winner of the Academy Award® Best Documentary of 2009 and directed by Boulder resident, Louie Psihoyos. Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) posters and awards will be on display as well as, an early 1920s Simplex film projector on loan from the CU International Film Festival. Behind the scene footage of movies and a rarely heard conversation with Glenn Miller are examples of other local items featured in the exhibit.
