This summer, the Charles River Watershed Association is partnering with Charles River Canoe & Kayak Center to remove the invasive water chestnut plant from the Newton and Waltham area of the Charles.

Canoes are provided for volunteers who wish to go out on the river and pull the water chestnuts, either with rakes or by hand, and there will be a short training session preceding the actual pulling of the chestnuts. There will be four public events during the summer, where we welcome any volunteers (RSVP is required):

Thursday, June 25th - 5:30 to 8 PM
Tuesday, July 7th - 5:30 to 8 PM
Saturday July 11th - 10 AM to 2 PM
Sunday, July 19th - 10 AM to 2 PM
