This outstanding accompaniment to In the City of Sylvia (description shown above) offers a stunning compilation of images recorded by José Luis Guerín in Strasbourg, while searching for the traces of a brief encounter some years earlier with a young woman named Sylvia. With this film, Guerín deconstructs the moving image, reducing it to its origins: a sequence of still pictures. All the while, he fills it with references to such film pioneers and great masters such as Hitchcock, Bresson, and Godard.
