Note:
About 175 years ago, the well-known patriotic hymn “America,” or “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” was first sung publically by the children of the Sunday School class on the steps of Park Street Church. The verses were penned by Samuel Francis Smith. On July 4, the children of Park Street Church will re-enact this performance in recognition of the church’s bicentennial year.
