Profile Trail in the Grandfather Mountain State Park

This hike was suggested by a group member, so I wanted to get it scheduled again. Last time we tried this hike the trails were closed because of ice storm damage. The Profile Trail is steep in places, but anyone in reasonable shape can do it. (I've passed some pretty out of shape folks on this trail.) The hike to the top is around 3.1 miles, but it can be extended by hiking on a half mile or so to Calloway Peak. Calloway Peak offers incredible views of the surrounding mountains, and on a clear day, with a little help, one can actually see the Charlotte skyline. The hike starts in the hardwoods and ends up in the Canadian fir zone, so we will gain a good bit of altitude along the hike. The weather in March can still be "iffy," so be sure to dress appropriately. This should be a good hike! Be sure to bring you cameras, and let's get outside!
