Event details
Documentary film, Food, Inc at Emmet ONeal Library in Mountain Brooks Crestline Village
From the film's website (www.foodincmovie.com): Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto) along with forward thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield's Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms' Joel Salatin, Food, Inc. reveals surprising--and often shocking truths--about what we eat, how it's produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here.
Food, Inc. was recently nominated for an Oscar for best documentary. Also, our community discussion will be based on some of the questions provided by a guide on the documentary's website. Carole Griffin (Continental Bakery & Chez Lulu) and Julie Nelson of C.L.U.C.K. (Citizens for the Legalization of Urban Chickenkeeping) will join us for the movie and discussion. The library has a flyer with information on the program, a supplemental reading list, and more. For more information, call (445-1121) or email (kmoellering@bham.lib.al.us)!
