High Point State Park learn to snowshoe for FREE!

This is more like a ÂÂ"public service announcementÂÂ" rather than a traditional meet-up, as so many of you that I have met have expressed an interest in trying snowshoeing and I thought that this was a unique opportunity and wanted to present it. Showshoeing has become a very popular winter activity. Come find out why! If youÂÂ've ever been curious about snowshoes, this is a great opportunity to try out different types. During this day-long snowshoe festival at the High Point Cross Country Ski Center (NJ), vendors will be on hand to give you a chance to try and/or buy snowshoes. You can give the snowshoes a trial run on FREE, naturalist guided tours that begin at 11:00AM and 1:00PM. For more information call the Ski Center at 973-702-1222 or go to www.xcskihighpoint.com. Bring the whole family to an all day festival and discover this great sport. If you can walk ÂÂ- you can snowshoe! Registration is required inside the ski lodge. Free demo snowshoes are available for adults and children. There will be guided snowshoe hikes, outdoor gear displays, informative clinics and FREE giveaways! There is also a lake for ice skating (not sure if rental skates are available), a lodge that sells hot soup and other snacks which can be enjoyed by the roaring fireplace. For those of you who have your own equipment you are welcome to attend and take advantage of the trails. You can arrive at any time that is convenient for you. Since some of you will be taking the lessons and some of us will be going on our own IÂÂ'm not setting a particular ÂÂ"startÂÂ" time. IÂÂ'm sure we will see you either on the trails, at the booths or in the lodge, so please RSVP anyway so I can keep an eye out for you.
