Full program description
Program subject to change.
With her 2006 debut at La Scala as Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Canada’s premier coloratura soprano Tracy Dahl has taken another milestone in a career that has brought her together with such opera houses as the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Canadian Opera Company, and the Chatelet in Paris, to name a few. Her "superlative coloratura" (Globe and Mail), "deliciously accurate, stratospheric" (Opera), is regularly singled out by critics. "Her extreme high notes, and she threw in a lot of them, are easy and spectacular." (Boston Globe). She has "a voice filled with sunshine, rainbows and laser light" according to Opera Magazine and the San Francisco Chronicle finds her "bright, sparkling, and bouncing, accurate and winning." "Where pure, well-tuned, characterful, and seemingly easy acrobatics through two and a half octaves are required, Dahl is among a relative few who can do it all superlatively well," comments the Calgary Herald. In 2009 she was awarded the prestigious Opera Canada Award.
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts presents the return of annual engagement with the New York Philharmonic on Saturday, July 7 at 8:00 p.m. Bramwell Tovey conducts the performance, featuring selections from Bernstein, Gershwin and Tchaikovsky. Canada’s premier coloratura soprano Tracy Dahl will make her Bethel Woods debut. The performance will conclude with the county’s most entertaining fireworks display celebrating Independence Day weekend. Picnic-style meals in soft coolers are welcome at this orchestral performances. You may bring food and beverages (no bottles, cans, alcohol, please), coolers, and blankets onto the lawn area prior to the show. Come enjoy an evening under the stars!
New! Philharmonic Families with The Janice Center
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is excited to introduce a family-friendly addition to the annual New York Philharmonic concert. This year, The Janice Center will lead a family listening activity and musical instrument petting zoo prior to the concert. Come early to listen to selections from the evening's set list and learn about the instruments that are part of each piece. This is a great way for parents to learn techniques for listening to classical music with their children, while children will gain a depepr appreciation for this art form. The activity begins at 7:00pm at Pataki Point (inside the gates) and will end by 7:45pm for an 8:00pm concert. This activity is free for all New York Philharmonic ticketholders.
All dates, acts, program, times and ticket prices subject to change without notice. All ticket prices increase $5 on the day of the show (except Family 4-Pack). *Kids free ticket with a paid adult redeemable at box office only.
