Description
Nachdem er zwischen 1993 und 2000 mit seiner Band Ben Folds Five eine Handvoll Hitsingles landen konnte (u.a. "Brick", "Battle Of Who Could Care Less") und drei Studioalben veröffentlichte, ist er seit nunmehr acht Jahren als Solokünstler aktiv. In dieser Zeit erscheinen zwei reguläre Studioalben, "Rockin' The Suburbs" (2001) und "Songs For Silverman" (2005), sowie eine ganze Reihe von EPs und Compilation-Alben.
Neben dem Chart-Erfolg mit seinem letzten Werk "Songs For Silverman", das nicht nur bis auf Position dreizehn der US Billboard Charts vorstieß, sondern sich auch in den Top 60 der Media Control Hitliste platzieren konnte, zählen v.a. der Soundtrack zum Animations-Blockbuster "Over The Hedge" ("Ab durch die Hecke", 2006) und die Produktion des William-Shatner-Albums "Has Been" zu Folds bekanntesten Arbeiten der vergangenen Jahre. Ende September 2008 erscheint nun unter dem Titel "Way To Normal" das lang erwartete, dritte Studioalbum des Musikers.

Singer/pianist Ben Folds (born September 12, 1966, in Winston-Salem, NC) is best known as the leader of the power pop trio Ben Folds Five, but has also struck out on his own as a solo artist. Despite playing in bands in high school, his musical career didn't really get off the ground until the late '80s, as a bassist for Majosha (the outfit issued such obscure releases as Party Night: Five Songs About Jesus and Shut Up and Listen to Majosha). Proving his multi-instrumental talents, Folds also played drums as a session musician in Nashville.
