The William Randolph Hearst Greek Theatre or simply just, 'The Greek,' was built in 1903 and is located on campus at the world renowned University of California Berkeley, close to San Francisco. The Greek Theatre Berkeley has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1982.With a seated capacity of 8,500, Berkeley's Greek Theatre is the ideal venue for a wide variety of live events - everything from concerts and theatrical performances, to commencement ceremonies and addresses by special guest speakers have featured on the schedule in previous years. Indeed, many of the biggest names in entertainment, politics, cultural affairs and spirituality have been known to grace the Greek Theatre stage - the 14th Dalai Lama, President Theodore Roosevelt, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan and James Taylor are just a few of those included on the Greek Theatre at Berkeley's schedule of special events in the past.
