Join me for a wonderful experience in France in 2010! The countryside in the South of France is breathtaking! Every day our small group, from eight to ten participants, will start with a delicious breakfast and travel by van to a different site or two, taking in the mesmerizing landscape and/or seascape along the way. We will paint from four to six hours each day and get some exercise while walking to historic sites, castles and charming villages. Some may choose to rest and admire the beautiful landscape while others explore a bit further. We will also paint at Montfaucon, in a quiet, peaceful art studio we call “la cave”. When possible we’ll take a siesta before the evening meal, and either dine at Montfaucon or near our painting location in the countryside. We will stay in Collioure, a breathtaking sea-side town for two days and one night. (We also have a day to take our own individual trips near Limoux, with breakfasts still included in fee). Painting Style and Technique: Paint with naturalistic, impressionistic, expressionistic and/or abstract styles, gleaning technique and style ideas from Julie’s daily demonstrations, including instruction on styles of the masters Paul Cezanne and other great fauvist artists who once lived in this area. Julie guides you to design thoughtfully and paint passionately, and provides constructive feedback on your artwork throughout your trip. Plein Air Painting & Travel Sketching Watercolor is a great medium to take on your travels. It is easy to carry, dries quickly, and it is a wonderful choice for capturing the extraordinary beauty of the south of France. Learn how to paint small travel sketches quickly and paint larger works within a few hours. Plein air easels and stools will be provided. Julie will send you a complete list of what art equipment to bring so that you are prepared in advance.
