Description

Lecture | December 1 | 12-12:30 p.m. | 502 Davis Hall

Speaker: John Hooper, P.E., S.E., Magnusson Klemencic Associates

Sponsor: Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE)

Over the last several years, Magnusson Klemencic Associates, in collaboration with various researchers, has pursued testing programs aimed at enhancing the designs of specific building projects. Each of these projects contained unique details&151;initiated in response to demanding owner/architectural design requirements&151;which could be substantiated only through large-scale physical testing. This presentation will highlight several completed research projects and their practical implications.

He received his Bachelors Degree from Seattle University (1981) and his Masters Degree from the University of California at Berkeley (1984). A registered Structural Engineer in Washington, John has 27 years of experience in the seismic design of building structures with an emphasis on essential facility, healthcare, and performance-based designs.
