Intro to Remote Sensing: Understanding satellite imagery and classification Workshop | February 14 | 9 a.m.-1 p.m. | 111 Mulford Hall
Sponsor: Geospatial Innovation Facility
This workshop introduces the very basic principles of understanding digital imagery, both satellite and aerial. The workshop is appropriate for participants with little to no experience in remote sensing. Through a combination of lecture and interactive activities, we will explore what makes up a multi-spectral image, where to find and download them, how to view them using a variety of software applications, and how to use them to develop land cover maps.

Agenda:
Presentation
What is Remote Sensing
Components and characteristics of digital imagery
Software options for viewing and analyzing imagery
Land cover classification techniques (unsupervised, supervised, hybrid)
Interactive
Finding and downloading imagery
Displaying and enhancing imagery in Erdas and ENVI
Classifying imagery into land cover maps
