Dance Jam (Berkeley)

Dance Jam is where community and dance meet.

Every Friday night at 2525 8th Street near Dwight in West Berkeley's
historic Sawtooth Building from 8:30 until 12:30. $12 gives you full access
to two different rooms with community dancing.
FIRST TIME IS FREE if you are willing to sign up for our mailing list.

The "Hot Room" features up-tempo music. The deejays play a mix of music
ranging from the cutting edge to the familiar. You will hear an eclectic
blend that is sure to please most everyone. The first 45 minutes is a
luscious warm-up, so come early and unwind your body.

The "Warm Room" is a chill space. Music alternates weekly between live and
recorded music. The live music is mostly down-tempo and allows for deep,
meditative movement with and without partners. The recorded music is
primarily down-tempo. You are likely to hear Ambient Groove, Jazz, Acid
Jazz, Blues, Latin, and Classical sprinkled in. A lot of people like to do
Contact Improvisation in this room. The live and recorded music is very
supportive of an inward journey.
