Description
510 Bellevue Way NE
Bellevue, WA 98004-5014
Thursday, November 12, 2009
Combining the crackled surface of raku ceramic with the transparency of cold-mold glass, Portland-based artist Judy Hill creates figurative sculptures that have an unexpectedly charged psychological presence. With over 10 figurines and 4 works on paper on display, Hill reinforces the figures’ fragility through the exploitation of the medium’s inherent lightness and draws the viewer into the inner life of the figure.

The glass, aluminum and concrete museum, designed by Steven Holl with plenty of terraces, atriums and gathering places, opened in October 2000.The museum presents contemporary art exhibitions of local, national and international artists who demonstrate complex perspectives. Shows and community forums are designed to promote dialogue on complicated subjects like identity and ethnicity. Every summer, the museum holds a prestigious Art Fair, with more than 300 artists and 300,000 visitors.By Paysha StocktonSpecial to NWsourcePost a Countdown Widget
