Jeffrey Terreson was raised in Bedford, NY. Exhibiting a remarkable aptitude for art at an early age, it was clear to Terreson, his teachers and family, that art would be his life. He earned a four-year Merit Scholarship to the Columbus College of Art and De-sign, where he graduated at the top of his class and received his BFA in 1976. In 1977, Terreson was invited to participate in an internship with several top artists in America including Robert Heindel and Mark English. Heindel's paintings became the source of tremendous inspiration in Terreson's career.

Returning to New York City, Terreson began his career as an artist. For many years, he painted and supported himself through his fine art illustration. His artwork was pub-lished for several Fortune 500 companies including Mobil, IBM and NBC as well as the United Nations and the PGA. His art also appeared in nationally published peri-odicals including Time, Newsweek, National Geographic, Readers Digest and many more.
After a great deal of success as a fine art illustrator in the New York, Terreson decided it was time to take his art in a new direction. Putting aside what he was taught, he re-lied more on his own connections to the creative process. In doing so, he became in-fluenced by modern contemporary painters - Johns, Schnabel, Steers, Joan Snyder, Rothko, Warhol, Poons, Leroy - and many others. It wasn't to long before he discov-ered his own direction by letting go. He has not looked back.
Terreson currently works in a Neo-Impressionistic painting style while embracing the textures and abstract compositional elements popular with many contemporary artists. He continues to explore his original roots as an oil painter while constantly looking to integrate elements of mixed media.

In 2005, Terreson was presented the National Award of Excellence, American Juried Art Salon. He also won an Award of Excellence for Tuscan Sangria (mixed media) in the national, juried competition
Describing his creative process, Terreson explains, "Ever since I can remember, de-sign and color have been my touchstones. It is where I begin, and the guide I consult to the end. Design is the core of all my work; the very center of my initial connection. The creative impulse grabs me at any moment of the day. Always ready. Eyes trig-gered. It is a beloved curse. I could be inspired by an obscure image from nature, how the sun hits a shape, or the angle of a shadow, the isolation of nature in its environ-ment, the natural graphic, a design in a single rock, tree, water, person, or shape. Whatever it is, it becomes alone in place, framed by its setting."

His work is in numerous public and private collections throughout the United States, and his paintings are available in select galleries. For more information, log onto www.jterreson.com
